Physiotherapy College Hospital
P+D has been commissioned to produce a design concept for the Somaiya Ayurvihar in Mumbai, India. The five-storey building, with a total area of 50,000 sq. ft., will be an extension of the existing Physiotherapy Centre within the campus.
The volumetry and massing are being carefully studied to diminish the cast shadows on the GF mother building. The brief has been described as a building that conveys memory of the traditional past and fantasy into the modern world.
Mumbai, the financial capital of India, is one of the major contributors to India’s GDP. Currently, the city is undergoing an infrastructure boom with the development of the metro, world-class roads and an airport in Navi Mumbai amongst other infrastructure projects.
Simultaneously, India is experiencing an exciting evolution in higher education.
