observatory

In partnership with Doug Patterson

The observatory was designed as a 2-storey tower with an automated aluminium dome. The stone circular construction has an independent column that goes undisturbed by vibrations to an independent foundation pad to hold the telescope above.

It houses a 20” telescope Paramount ME II with Planewave CDK20, and attached to it, a solar telescope and a high-resolution camera. The command of the telescope can be remotely operated via internet from anywhere and coordinated with the opening and turning of the dome. On the ground it features services, kitchen and toilet.

It provides space for the astronomer and 6 visitors and will be online to allow the use of the facility by the schools of the area.
